Wilmington Chiropractic Provides Pain Relief and Wellness
Welcome to Chiropractic Central in Wilmington, NC! We are located conveniently on Market Street near Beaumont Park and the Wilmington YMCA. Dr. David Lude's motto is "your needs are central to my care," and the emphasis of our practice is on nonsurgical alternatives to relieve back pain, headaches and other persistent forms of neuromuscular pain. Our chiropractic practice follows a holistic, or "whole person," form of treatment.
Chiropractors Treat Back Pain, Headaches, and Herniated Discs

At our Wilmington clinic, we utilize a wide variety of state of the art tools and techniques that are great alternatives to surgery. Surgical spinal decompression has been replaced for the most part by inversion tables, intersegmental traction and other traction devices. A herniated disc, also, can be effectively treated by nonsurgical spinal decompression. Severe sublaxations, or nerve impingements, that formerly required surgery are responding positively to newer, non-invasive treatments.
A major part of our chiropractic philosophy is that there are five components involved in a spinal misalignment. Back pain is not as simple as a bone being off-kilter and pinching a nerve. While there are bone and nerve components that affect a vertebral sublaxation complex, the muscles, soft tissue, and even a chemical balance can be major contributing factors as well.
Think of it this way. A herniated disc puts a vertebra out of alignment. This disrupts a nerve. This disruption causes muscles to spasm. This further pulls the vertebra out of alignment, and damages the soft tissue. Pro-inflammatory chemicals called "kinins" are released, which causes more pain and inflammation. Chiropractors address all of these issues in order to successfully treat back pain, neck pain, and extremity pain such as headaches.
It is natural then that our multidisciplinary approach, including chiropractors, physiotherapists, and nutritional counseling would be of the greatest benefit to our chiropractic patients. We also provide corrective exercises and lifestyle advice tailored to the unique needs of each patient. Following our advice on ergonomics, posture and stress management will take you beyond simply being "ok" once you have moved on to the maintenance level of care. There are new vistas of health and wellness that you may have never experienced before; which many people never do with their hectic lifestyles.
Our chiropractor, Dr. David Lude, has been licensed since 1995 and has been practicing in Wilmington since 1997. Dr. Lude continually builds upon his training and has also taken an advanced study course in cervical acceleration/deceleration trauma and whiplash-related TMJ disorders. He is a member of the NCCA and ICA. He believes strongly that true wellness is not achieved by classical medical care--surgery and drugs, but by enabling the body to heal in the way it was meant to--naturally.
